The Green School was conceived by its founders, John and Cynthia Hardy in 2006. It is a school that educates for sustainability, through community-integrated, entrepreneurial learning, in a wall-less, natural environment. Their holistic, student-guided approach inspires and empowers students to be the change makers. Green School is constructed almost entirely from bamboo, and benefits from the potential of all its properties to become structural, decorative, recreational, seating, tables and many other fixtures. The buildings fuse contemporary design strategies and traditional bamboo carpentry. Nowhere is this more apparent than the ‘heart of school’, three lineally located nodes from which all other programmatical elements radiate in a spiralling organisation.
The Green School holds daily tours of campus.
