Bamboo U At The Commonwealth Games

Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022

Bamboo U is excited to announce that we will be coming to the UK in July 2022 to take part in the Imagine Bamboo Summit.

The summit is being held as part of the Commonwealth Games by Imagineers Productions in collaboration with Bamboo U and other bamboo enthusiasts such as Neil Thomas and Jed Long. Over the course of 4 days, from July 1st to July 4th, Bamboo U will be building participatory bamboo structures using local, British-grown bamboo to raise awareness for sustainable construction and community construction.

Since April 2021, we have been collaborating online with Imagineers Productions to teach a range of British designers, architects and creatives all about bamboo design, model making, and engineering. This will be the opportunity to put all of that acquired design and construction knowledge into practice and see the wonderful things that bamboo can do, even in an area you wouldn’t expect bamboo to grow and prosper!

This is the first time that Bamboo U will be actively engaged in a project abroad, and we’re so excited about it! We will be dynamically working with new bamboo species and developing a garden of bamboo structures which will become a part of the setting for the upcoming Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

If you’re interested to learn more about this event, please check out: https://www.imagine-bamboo.co.uk/. And if you’re in the area during that weekend, come along and say hi! Tickets to this event are free and all are welcome, tickets are limited and must be pre-booked here.
